Title: We Were Liars
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Mystery
A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from New York Times bestselling author, National Book Award finalist, and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.
And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.
Goodreads is 100% right. If you have read this book and someone asks you about the ending, Lie!! Do not tell them. The ending to this book made me completely rethink the whole book. So if you haven’t read this book go read it now!! It seems like a normal contemporary novel where cousins spend time together during the summer and are enjoying life then BAM the mystery begins and you are left wondering what the hell is going on.
This book leaves you a wreck of emotions by the end and is full of twists and turns you never see coming. An enjoyable read throughout, with characters you can’t help but wan to route for.
